1. In your civic, professional or personal background, what experience has prepared you for a position on the Montgomery Village Foundation Board of Directors?
My roles working for an electrical utility have provided me with a unique insight into the direct impacts of local rules and regulations on residents. When advising Maryland residents on their most complex energy problems, I work with people daily to find solutions to unique/complex challenges within tight budgets, finding creative ways to address problems and incentivize behaviors for a positive impact on the residents and community. This problem-solving approach and ability to utilize selection criteria to make long-term beneficial decisions allows me to bring a fresh and new perspective to the MVF Board to address and solve the issues facing today’s residents to better prepare the Village for tomorrow.
2. What are the most important items you would like to address as a Montgomery Village Foundation Board member?
As the Village grows and refreshes the amenities that we all enjoy, I would like to see us rally towards a more energy efficient future that balances reducing our environmental footprint and maintaining first rate amenities that help this community come together as place everyone wants to return to with activities we all enjoy.
3. What ideas would you recommend to address those concerns?
Increasing events that bring the local communities together to be able to restore the natural beauty of the area though litter reduction events would be an excellent first step towards achieving these goals. Reviewing the list of maintenance projects that are scheduled with an eye towards efficiency improvements that are possible both through small changes of the current plan and by capitalizing on alternative funding sources would be a highly effective follow up step.

1. In your civic, professional or personal background, what experience has prepared you for a position on the Montgomery Village Foundation Board of Directors?
I have almost 20 years of experience working as a consultant in the areas of program and policy evaluation and organizational capacity building. As a result, I have developed skills in budgeting, contracting, negotiation, and project management. My work has also formed a deep understanding of the problems faced by families and communities across the country and promising solutions. I believe that this knowledge and experience will allow me to make a valuable contribution to the Board.
2. What are the most important items you would like to address as a Montgomery Village Foundation Board member?
Ultimately, I want our community to remain a place where people from diverse backgrounds and at different stages of life can find a sense of belonging and build a home. One key area I would like to address is the ongoing development of the Village. This is an exciting time, with construction continuing on Bloom Village, new businesses opening, and important conversations underway about how to renew or repurpose our community infrastructure and programs.
I am also committed to responsible stewardship of our physical and financial resources. I recognize that homeowners pay dues and place trust in the Board to make good decisions on their behalf. I hope to support sensible budgets that deliver short-term benefits while also protecting the long-term health and sustainability of our community.
Finally, I want to focus on community safety. Specifically, how we as neighbors can work together to create a safe and supportive place to live. This is vital so that residents feel secure and confident, children and youth can learn and grow comfortably, and emerging safety concerns are addressed early before they develop into larger challenges.
3. What ideas would you recommend to address those concerns?
I believe that the Board’s ability to make strategic decisions about community redevelopment and resources starts by engaging with members of the community. This is the best way for the Board to understand resident needs, interest, and concerns. I think there are opportunities to use new tools and technology to engage with residents and reduce barriers to resident participation and information sharing. In particular, I think that getting a representative understanding of community members’ perspectives on a consistent basis allows the Board to make informed decisions on what our priorities should be. It also allows us to get the information we need to guide future projects.

1. In your civic, professional or personal background, what experience has prepared you for a position on the Montgomery Village Foundation Board of Directors?
My MBA degree from Robert Smith School of Business at the University of MD, coupled with my 13 years of management career at a fortune 500 (Sodexo Inc.) company makes me a strong candidate for the board. My current six-year tenured career as a Sr. Strategic Pricing Manager at The United States Pharmacopeial Convention, a global health organization, has made me a stronger leader with a higher understanding of the well-being and betterment of the overall global community. Finally, as an experienced board member of a non-profit organization (St. Mary Armenian Church), and a three year board member of MVF, I have a solid understanding of the level of commitment needed to effectively run and deliver the needs of MVF.
2. What are the most important items you would like to address as a Montgomery Village Foundation Board member?
I would like to continue doing my part in order to maintain a balanced budget with minimal increases in expenses while maximizing benefits to residents and the overall community. Continuous improvement and modernization of architectural standards policies across the community, while maintaining maximum compliance and high quality of life to all community members. Promote and continue improvements to all aging amenities and structures to include but not limited to: pools, common areas such as fields, parks, and other recreational facilities. Continue our work with Montgomery County in order to improve traffic patterns as well as parking issues and needs of the community, with safety to the community on top of mind.
3. What ideas would you recommend to address those concerns?
Continue our diligence in increased number of RFPs as well as new contractors on all maintenance contracts in order to obtain the highest quality of service for the lowest possible cost. Increased frequency of inspections of communities i.e., quarterly as opposed to semi-annually with increased frequency of notifications, in order to proactively prevent a violation before it happens. Overall increase in proactive approach of resolving issues vs. reactive by obtaining professional consultations on how to resolve issues vs. guessing and band-aiding situations as they occur. Finally, an overall increase in engagement and collaboration between MVF and Montgomery County in order to maximize quality of life within the community.

1. In your civic, professional or personal background, what experience has prepared you for a position on the Montgomery Village Foundation Board of Directors?
My background combines civic, professional, and personal experience rooted in service and leadership. I have volunteered with both elderly and youth populations, and my family owns and manages assisted living and group homes in Montgomery County, where I’ve been hands-on with wellness training and support. I’ve held leadership and managerial roles across multiple organizations focused on wellness, and I am passionate about bringing that experience directly into the community.
2. What are the most important items you would like to address as a Montgomery Village Foundation Board member?
As a Board member, I would focus on restoring beauty and strengthening community connection in tangible ways. I’m interested in how we can reimagine under-maintained light poles, sidewalks, and shared public spaces to make them welcoming, cared for, and engaging. Thoughtful improvements can foster pride, encourage respectful public gathering, and give residents meaningful reasons to connect with one another and their community.
3. What ideas would you recommend to address those concerns?
I would recommend organizing community volunteer teams to help clean, maintain, and care for shared spaces, building ownership and pride. I’d also support friendly competitions inviting local artists, architects, and designers to reimagine public areas in creative, practical ways. Activating these spaces with community events would then give residents reasons to gather, celebrate one another, and build lasting pride in Montgomery Village.
