I hope by now that you have seen the outcome of the annual MVF Board election. I am pleased to see two terrific Board members return to serve another term, as well as welcome a great new addition to the Board—Jerome Leonard! I am thrilled to have Jerome join us, as I have known him for many years as a vocal advocate for our community, our schools and our business community.

In addition to the three directors being seated on the Board at our annual meeting, I am also pleased to announce that we will also be seating our first ever student representative to the Board—Chioma Nwoye. Our new student representative will be a non-voting member of the Board, will attend and participate in all of our meetings, bringing the perspectives of our community youth, and will also serve as an intern during the summer months at the MVF Office.

One of the great benefits of the way our community structures the MVF Board is that we are able to maintain continuity of leadership by having staggered three-year terms, while also having the ability to add new talent and fresh ideas each year. This community is essentially a small town with over 40,000 residents and 12,000 dwelling units. The MVF Board is responsible for the overall planning, operations and representation of the broad community and works in partnership with your local homes corporation, condominium association or apartment community.

The Board, including the new student representative, will be continuing our work to invest in Montgomery Village, refresh our programs, parks and assets, and look for ways to build upon the successes we have had over our many years. I am excited to see what is ahead for us!
As always, I invite you to get involved, share your talents and thoughts with us, and help Montgomery Village stay the amazing community it has been all these years.
