Lake Whetstone Boating

Enjoy Lake Whetstone by renting boats at 18701 Montgomery Village Avenue, from May 4 until September 29. MVF’s South Dock boat house will be open for boat rentals from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, Memorial Day and Labor Day. Boat rentals begin at 11 a.m., with last rentals launched between 5:45 and 6:15 p.m. A current MVF Activity Card is needed to rent a boat at resident rates. Rental cost for canoes and rowboats is $5 per hour, and paddle boats are $4 per half-hour for Village residents. Non-residents may rent boats for an additional $3 per rental. Renters without current MVF Activity Cards must present a valid driver’s license or ID card to rent a boat. Children must be 16 or older to rent a boat, unless accompanied by an adult. Privately owned boats meeting MVF guidelines can be used on Lake Whetstone with the purchase of a 2017 MVF Identification Sticker which is available at the MVF Office.

Enjoy fishing, boating, jogging and picnicking (no grilling or alcoholic beverages permitted) from 7 a.m. until the area closes one-half hour after sunset. Maryland State Fishing Regulations are in effect for all MVF lakes and ponds. Applications for a fishing license are available at Children 16 years old and younger are not required to obtain a license to fish.


Lake Whetstone Boat ID Stickers

Boat racks located at the South Dock of Lake Whetstone are rented to Village residents for storing their boats. Racks rent for $35. They are available and are rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Rental period is from April 1, 2018 until March 31, 2019. All boats used on Lake Whetstone must have an MVF Identification Sticker. Stickers may be purchased for $10. You may register to rent boat racks and purchase boat I.D. stickers at the MVF Office, 10120 Apple Ridge Road. For more information, call 240-243-2303.
