The Department of Recreation and Parks Strategic Plan identified bocce ball and disc golf as potential amenities to bring more sporting options to Montgomery Village. In April, the MVF Board of Directors approved moving forward to collect community input on these exciting projects.
Due to a weather delay, the completion date for the tennis court repairs at the Whetstone Community Center has been extended. The courts are now expected to reopen by Sunday, May 26.
MVF is pleased to announce two upcoming enhancements at David B. Humpton Park (9701 Stewartown Road): the installation of new shade structures in the playground area and maintenance work in the large dog park.
In any given year, more than 150 volunteers in the community fill positions on the boards of directors and committees, providing oversight and advice and helping make decisions that keep neighborhoods and Montgomery Village as a whole, the best it can be.
Consider biking to work on Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 17. Organized by Council of Governments’ Commuter Connections program and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, participants can leave their cars at home and bike to their places of employment as a healthy and fun way to start their day.
