Montgomery County offers free tax help for income-eligible residents

Good news for income-eligible Montgomery County residents. Residents with household incomes of $69,000 or less can schedule free tax appointments with the Community Action Agency's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program through Thursday, April 9.

Preparation is done by IRS-trained volunteers who assist taxpayers in determining if they are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit and other tax credits. Services are offered in both English and Spanish. Appointments are available now through April 9. Schedule an appointment online or call 240-777-1123. 

Appointments are available through April 9 at these locations in Montgomery County:

• Mondays, 2 to 8 p.m., Casey Community Center, 810 S. Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg
  *The TESS VITA site is closed for the rest of the tax season. Additional appointments will be offered on Tuesdays in Rockville to accommodate TESS VITA participants. 
• Tuesdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Community Action Agency, 1401 Rockville Pike, Suite 320, Rockville
• Wednesdays, 12 to 8 p.m., Community Action Agency, 1401 Rockville Pike, Suite 320, Rockville
