Calling for parade entries for the Montgomery Village Independence Day Parade

With just under 8 weeks to go, Montgomery Village Foundation is calling for parade entries, especially groups, to take part in our annual MV Independence Day Parade on Friday, July 3!

Our hometown parade is a free and fun way to show your creativity and community spirit and celebrate Independence Day. Our much-loved parade will feature patriotic colors and include floats, classic cars, community groups, music and more! If you’ve never participated in our parade before, this is your chance to start a new tradition! Beginning at 9 a.m. on July 3, parade participants will drop off, register and line up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints parking lot, 20020 Montgomery Village Avenue. At 9:30 a.m., parade entries will be judged in the following categories, and ribbons will be awarded for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd places:

• Best Decorated Wheeled Creation – includes bike, scooter, skateboard, stroller, wheelchair, roller skates, wagon and motorized toy vehicle
• Best Costume
• Best Motorized Float
• Best Hand-pulled Float
• Best Marching or Performing Group
• Best Overall Entry – judged on the parade route – will win a trophy!

If you prefer to be a spectator, bring your lawn chair or find a seat on the nearest curb and enjoy this festive display of community pride! The parade starts at 10 a.m. sharp, and Apple Ridge Road will be closed at 9:30 a.m.!

After the parade, walk over to the Apple Ridge Recreation Area, 10101 Apple Ridge Road, where the Celebration will continue through 1:30 p.m. with live music by 45 RPM and DJ Spyder, carnival rides and lawn games, a petting zoo, pony rides, and vendor tables. Festival foods and cold drinks will also be available for sale.

And don’t forget about…Montgomery Village 5K Race & 1-Mile Fun Run

And mark your calendar for Sunday, June 28, for more fun, excitement and community spirit when we gather at Lake Marion Community Center, 8821 East Village Avenue, for the annual Montgomery Village 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run!

Our Village community will come alive between 6:45 and 7:30 a.m. with packet pickup/registration, followed by our 1-Mile Fun Run at 7:45 a.m. and our 5K Race at 8:15 a.m. This exhilarating 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run through East Village and around Lake Marion is the perfect way to get your heart rate up. We’re calling for all runners to participate in this enjoyable community activity!

5K Race: Participation is $30/Resident and $35/Non-resident

1-Mile Fun Run: $15/Resident and $18/Non-resident

Register in advance to secure your spot! The first 150 registrants will receive an official race t-shirt so don’t delay! Note: Prices increase on race day, so register in advance!
