Tackling fraud and scams

Frauds and scams have become increasingly prevalent and pose significant risks to individuals, businesses, and society. Understanding the different types of fraudulent activities and the tactics scammers use is crucial to protecting yourself and your community.

The Montgomery County Police Financial Crimes section investigates cases involving fraud, forgery, embezzlement, confidence games, counterfeiting checks and credit cards, financial exploitation of the elderly, and identity theft. Their approach is multifaceted and includes investigating reported cases, forging partnerships with the community, and educating and empowering the community to prevent these crimes.
