Olde Towne Gaithersburg/Washington Grove Walk April 18
The Seneca Valley Sugarloafers Volksmarch Club is sponsoring an Olde Towne Gaithersburg/Washington Grove Walk on Saturday, April 18. The 10km walk, with two 5km options, is rated 1A. The Olde Towne trail is on paved surfaces mostly on city sidewalks through several historic neighborhoods with houses from the 1900 era. The Washington Grove trail is through a tiny town within a forest and an oasis of tranquility that began in 1873 for religious retreats. It is a view of living in the past. Both trails are suitable for strollers but not wheelchairs.
The Start/Finish point is at Java Junction, Gaithersburg MARC train station, 5 S. Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. The start point is located at the open area in the back of the coffee shop, away from the train tracks. Java Junction opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday. ALL walkers older than 12 years will pay $3. Children under 12 years may earn IVV credit for no charge at all events sponsored by the Seneca Valley Sugarloafers. The start time is between 8 and 11 a.m., and walkers must finish by 2 p.m. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish point (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Pets are not allowed in the Start point are but are allowed on the walk as long as they are leashed at all times during the walk.
