MVF Unveils Major Solar Panel Installation
On Friday, Oct. 17, community members, elected officials and MVF staff gathered to celebrate a milestone moment in MVF's journey toward sustainability—the unveiling and ribbon-cutting for the MVF Solar Panel Project.
We are proud to announce that through this project, six more of our facilities now have solar panels installed: Lawn Theater, MVF Office and Maintenance Building, Peggy Mark Pool, Stedwick Community Center, Whetstone Community Center and North Creek Community Center.
Thanks to the efforts of Senator Nancy King and the District 39 team, MVF was awarded an $800,000 non-matching state grant to fund the project. This project marked a powerful step forward in energy efficiency, cost savings and environmental stewardship, and is projected to save more than $2 million in energy costs over the next 25 years. These savings can be reinvested into the community, helping to keep future assessments as low as possible, while continuing to provide high-quality resident services.
A special thanks to the MVF Board of Directors for authorizing the project, and to Fan Yang and Mledtech, LLC, for bringing the vision to life. Former Executive Vice President Dave Humpton and former General Counsel Christopher Hitchens were also recognized for their early leadership that helped launch the initiative.
Joining the celebration were Delegate Gregory Wims, Delegate Lesley Lopez and Councilmember Dawn Luedtke's Chief of Staff, Aaron Kraut—each showing their support for the Village’s green future.
This ribbon-cutting ceremony was more than a celebration on the completion of the solar panels; it was about progress, partnership and the power of community to build a brighter tomorrow.
