EVP Report: MVF personnel updates
by Mike Conroy, MVF Executive Vice President
MVF Personnel – It’s my honor to report that Director of Recreation and Parks Duncan Mullis is a graduate of the LeadershipMontgomery CORE program class of 2025. In addition to maintaining the Recreation and Parks Department, Duncan participated in many hours of instruction, networking and collaboration over the last year to complete this prestigious program. His professional attitude and demeanor have helped extend MVF’s mission to additional contacts within Montgomery County. Congratulations on this impressive achievement, Duncan!
Additionally, I’m pleased to announce that after a months’ long search process, MVF has hired Montgomery County native Adam Polsky to replace Christopher Hitchens as General Counsel. Christopher will officially retire on Friday, June 27 after 12½ years of service to MVF. Adam comes with more than 25 years’ experience and a wealth of business and legal knowledge in key areas for MVF operations. While we are sad to have Christpher leave us, we are equally excited to begin a new relationship with Adam.
Solar Panels Going Live – Solar Panels and power grid connection equipment have been installed on all MVF facilities. As Pepco Interconnection Agreements are completed, systems are being activated and using solar energy to reduce utility costs. The Lawn Theater and Stedwick Community Center are currently active, with the other facilities coming online very soon.
MVF Board Strategic Planning Retreat – The MVF Board Retreat was held on June 7 and was full of meaningful conversation and thoughtful discussion toward strategic initiatives and future budget planning. Topics included a financial overview in preparation
of the 2026 MVF Budget; potential restoration efforts for the islands at North Creek Lake; updates to amenities at Lake Whetstone; building blocks for a “Join the Conversation” branding campaign; and areas of focus for pedestrian safety. Initiatives from the discussion will be reflected in updated Strategic Goals in the 2026 Budget, as well as other future discussion and projects to come before the Board.
