EVP Report: MVF Multigolf Course now open
by Mike Conroy
MVF Multigolf Course Now Open – MVF’s newest park amenity, a 9-hole Multigolf Course, officially opened on May 1 and has been getting steady use. The course takes players around the perimeter of the MVF Office property, through the tunnel under Apple Ridge
Road, and around the perimeter of the Apple Ridge Recreation Area, and is designed for play with either discs or soccer balls (or both).
We have seen a great response to this addition, with individuals, groups and families using it at all times of the day. Local press (The MoCo Show) has featured it as well, helping to draw attention to the course. Kudos to the Recreation and Parks team for this creative use of space and engaging the community in a new way!
MVF Scholarship – This year a total of $2,000 ($1,000 each for Watkins Mill and Gaithersburg high schools) was donated by residents. The MVF Scholarship Committee reviewed the student applications and selected two recipients from WMHS, both receiving $500 each, and one recipient from GHS, who received $1,000. The winners were announced at their school’s respective awards night earlier this week and were presented with the awards.
Thank you to all residents who donated to this wonderful cause and to those who support our youth in many ways. Congratulations to the ambitious young residents who received these scholarships, and to the graduating class of 2025 on your many accomplishments!
Annual MVF Board Planning Retreat – Each year, the MVF Board holds a strategic planning retreat to set goals for the organization, community, and future budgets. The 2025 retreat is scheduled for Saturday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Whetstone Community Center, 19140 Brooke Grove Court. The retreat is open to the public, and an agenda and meeting information will be posted online at www.montgomeryvillage.com in advance of the retreat.
