South Village Parking
Parking in South Village is regulated by covenants and rules:
- Overnight parking of commercial vehicles and trucks is prohibited unless garaged.
- Parking of trailers, boats, campers, oversized vehicles or recreational vehicles is prohibited.
- Parking in fire lanes, parking on sidewalks, and parking on green space is prohibited.
- Unlicensed, inoperative or abandoned vehicles are prohibited.
- Vehicles must not be stored in the parking area (all vehicles must be moved at least every 30 days).
- Extensive vehicle repairs are prohibited.
- Violators may be stickered and towed.
- Residents are expected to use garages, carports and driveways when provided.
- Vehicles parked on private property (driveways) can be towed at the owner’s request. Owners may contact Henry's Wrecker Services at 301-869-4800.
- Vehicles with covers must have plates visible at all times.
Vehicle descriptions:
- Commercial vehicles: any vehicle with any type of writing or printing (letters, pictures, insignia) other than that applied by the manufacturer of the vehicle (i.e. manufacturer name and model) is PROHIBITED. Vehicles which carry ladders, pipes, ladder racks, tool boxes etc. on the exterior are considered commercial vehicles, with or without display of commercial signage and utility. This is to include vans of excessive size.
- Commercial Vans: A commercial van is one that has only front seats, with an empty cab (back portion) and or no side windows. Vans fitting this description are prohibited whether or not registered as a commercial vehicle with the state. This is also to include vans that are oversized and with or without any type of writing or printing (letters, pictures, insignia, identifying a firm, organization, service, product, etc.). In addition, vans which carry ladders, ladder racks, tool boxes, pipes, etc. and vans used for delivering, storing or transporting goods or cargo are also considered commercial vans and are PROHIBITED. It is required that vans have conventional factory‑ installed windows along both sides and the rear of the vehicle, and, factory-installed seating for more than the driver and front passenger. Otherwise, it will be considered a commercial van.
- Oversized vehicles: Any vehicle exceeding 240 inches (20’) in length, or 80 inches (6’8”) in width, or 90 inches (7’6”) in height or any vehicle with more than four wheels on the roadway is considered oversized. These vehicles are prohibited from parking in the community at any time unless the vehicle is momentarily providing direct service to a residence or homeowner.
