As the temperatures start to rise, flowers start to bloom and the sky has that great shade of blue, we can’t help but know summer is right around the corner. Before you know it, school will be out, summer will take hold you’ll need somewhere productive for your children to go during the day. Now is the time to think, and register for, MVF Summer Camps. This summer, give your child(ren) a great opportunity to learn, interact and make new friends, right here in your backyard!

The Montgomery Village Foundation (MVF) Department of Recreation and Parks offers fantastic opportunities at established camps for youth ages 4 to 13. Each week, campers will make friends, enjoy live performances, participate in active games, go swimming, create arts and crafts projects, participate in science experiments and of course, have fun!

New for 2022 is our Sport and Splash Camp! This fun-filled program offers campers the opportunity to participate in various sports-related programming (games, tournaments, drills, etc.) throughout the morning, then head to the pool for the afternoon! Pool games, activities and instruction (swim lessons) will be provided at the newly renovated North Creek Pool.

And for teen ages 13 to 16, we are bringing back our popular Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) program. Volunteering as a C.I.T. is a great way for adolescents and young adults to develop new skills, make new friends, fulfill the Student Service Learning (SSL) requirement and even help shape their ideas about goals for the future. To be considered for a C.I.T. position, candidates must fill out an application by Friday, May 13. Applications can be obtained from the MVF Office, 10120 Apple Ridge Road, or found online at

MVF Summer Camps are convenient for parents, too! Besides being so close to home, affording you the ease of drop-off and pickup before and after work, Lake Marion Camp offers an extended-day option from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to make sure you get to work on time. MVF Camps span the entire summer from Tuesday, June 21 through Friday, Aug. 26—we’ve got you covered all summer long!

Need to schedule around other summer plans? No problem—our flexible, one and two-week sessions make it possible to maximize your child’s camp experience and minimize overpaying for a camp they can’t attend all of.

MVF camps provide peace of mind with top-notch staff. Many of our camp staff and directors have years of experience with Village youth, or even attended these camps themselves! And our manageable staff-to-camper ratio makes sure that your child receives care and attention, instead of just being another face in the crowd.

MVF camps are state-licensed and follow all state and/or county guidelines. MVF’s number one priority is safety, which is why we have taken many measures to ensure the safety of your child while at camp.

Join the Virtual Camp Open House via Zoom on Wednesday, May 25 to meet staff and have any camp-related questions answered. Meeting connection instructions can be found online at

Best of all, Montgomery Village camps won’t break the bank! The weekly/bi-weekly sessions are broken down to affordable rates. For more information or to register, call 301-948-0110 or visit See you this summer!
