The storm drains in community streets are often the property of the homes association or condominium. These drains serve to remove rainwater from the street to a system of streams and ponds in the Village before the water proceeds toward the Chesapeake Bay. These drains are not sewers, and they do not carry sewage.
Please note the following important points:
Leaves, grass clippings or other debris should not be placed near or in the storm drains. Such debris can block the drains and cause serious flooding.
Trash and litter that is left in the street could be washed into the storm drains by rainwater. This trash will then find its way to the lakes and ponds in the Village, where it will do environmental damage. Please take a moment to pick up litter and trash so that it does not wash into the storm drain system.
