Government Relations

The Montgomery Village Foundation's Director of Government Relations and Development monitors federal, state and county legislation of interest to community associations, analyzes issues and recommends a course of action to the MVF Board and its committees. The director writes and presents testimony and works with legislators, government agencies and law enforcement as a registered county and state lobbyist to facilitate MVF programs and positions. The director also serves on state and county legislative committees of the Community Associations Institute and establishes and promotes working relationships with other large-scale planned communities. In recognition of her work, the director was awarded the Public Advocate Award form the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of CAI in 2005.

The director manages the annual MVF Board of Directors election, serves as staff liaison to the MVF Transportation, Development and Public Facilities Committee, the MVF Election Committee and the MVF Nominating Committee, as well as liaison to the Watkins Mill and Gaithersburg school clusters.

The director also coordinates board activities, including the annual retreat, town meetings, annual meeting with state and county legislators, annual community health fairs and forums for candidates for public office during general election years.
