The Communications Department of the Montgomery Village Foundation plays a pivotal role in information dissemination internally and externally. With the Village's changing demographics, it is imperative that the Foundation effectively communicate with residents and those who have a vested interest in Montgomery Village.
The department publishes and provides editorial oversight to its major communication vehicle, the Montgomery Village News. The free newsletter is a 24-issue publication distributed to more than 12,000 households in Montgomery Village.
The newsletter is designed to inform residents of policymaking decisions by the MVF Board of Directors and keep residents abreast of community meetings and outcome. Individual homes corporations and condominium associations also provide updates about their respective communities. The publication occasionally features spotlight articles on Village residents and also includes county-wide information and news that takes place within the Gaithersburg city limits.
Additionally, the department is responsible for the design and maintenance of the Foundation's web site-keeping its content fresh and up-to-date; branding and visual identity; positioning the MVF and marketing the Village through community and media outreach; photography and video production; and soliciting advertising and sponsorship opportunities. With the expertise of a graphics designer on staff, the communications department produces in-house publications, such as the Home Improvement and Residents guides, seasonal recreation guides, the MVF Annual Report, an annual calendar and other collateral marketing materials, which promote the activities and programs of the Foundation.
